I agree with you about that scene where Gwen told Jack she accepted Rhys' proposal because "no one else would have me". She was sending Jack an invitation and instead of accepting it he backed off and gave her his blessing.
Your Ianto is no fool. He can clearly see that Jack was traumatized by what happened while he was away and offers comfort instead of criticism. Beautiful!
