Ianto is too observant not to notice the little things. Gwen was far too wrapped up in herself to see what was right in front of her face. Jack damn near broke down right in front of her, and yet all she cared about was demanding answers. Ianto would not have missed that moment... and he wouldn't have been demanding that Jack answer his questions, no matter what.
