I love the way you write Gwen, as it's so much more realistic than canon ever was. Gwen had none of the training to make her the all important part of the team, from the very beginning, that the show tried to portray her as. She was a PC, not head of the department, not a detective, supervisor, boss of any kind, a PC. This is not a slam against PCs, just a rationalization. She had NO SPECIAL TRAINING! She was your basic beat cop.
As for the test to see if she could keep her mouth shut about Jack's secret, I think the only reason for her NOT telling was because she assumes she's the only one privileged and important enough to have that information. She believes she has one up on the others because she knows something they don't and she wants to keep it that way. It's her superiority complex, not any sense of loyalty to Jack, that kept her from telling.
Also, thank you for having Ianto straighten her out on her place on the team, and the fact that he is her immediate superior. It always irked me the way she looked down on in the show.
