I bet it is a wonderful dream come true for someone so far away. And who knows, there might be another convention closer to you, he also regularly is at Comic Con in San Diego (but that would be too big for my liking).
I had the same happening a few years ago - attended lots of Stargate conventions, but Richard Dean "MacGyver" Anderson always was too shy to come. I'd resigned meeting him to "things that never will happen" and surely could understand his reasoning (he once had a bad experience with crowds).
Now look at my icon, five years, four conventions and two long travels to Vancouver later, how relaxed he is - we all got a wonderful hug this time!
So I learned: even impossible dreams might come true one day - when you least expect it.
