Sneak Preview...
Title: A Different Shade of Darkness
Chapter One: Unexpected Happenings
Author: blucougar57
Summary: In the wake of his untimely death, Ianto Jones accepts a deal that will change his life forever.
Rating: Strong T, for now.
Warnings: Spoilers for The Series That Never Was (AKA, Children of Earth).
X-over: Torchwood/Doctor Who/Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter books.
A/N: This is a sneak peak at the story I began writing whilst in Cardiff, in November. I was waiting for the plot bunnies to bite, and bite they did. I believe I wrote (hand-wrote, in actual paper notebooks) approximately 10,000 words in the space of three or four days. My hand and wrist hurt. A lot.
Firstly, this is my own CoE fix-it fic, and is very strictly Janto. It will be dark, though with plenty of lighter moments peppered throughout, and it will not be Gwen-friendly. I don’t intend to resort to borderline crack character bashing, but she will be portrayed in this story as I see her being portrayed in the show – as self-centred and complete blinkered to anything beyond her own wants and needs. I have never forgiven her for escaping the events of CoE unscathed, and then having the gall to expect Jack to carry on at her side like nothing had happened.
You have been warned. If you don’t like Gwen being treated in a way that reflects her rather self-involved behaviour on the show, then this story is not for you.
Secondly, this story brings Torchwood - or rather, the characters - together with the marvellous characters created by Sherrilyn Kenyon for her Dark Hunter books. I don't own them, but I hope she won't mind me borrowing them for a while. I have no money or assets, and this is purely for pleasure and not any sort of financial gain.
If you haven't read any of the Dark Hunter books, I wholeheartedly recommend you go out and by one right now, and immerse yourself thoroughly. A personal favourite is Night Play, but Acheron is good as well.
Again, this is a sneak peek. The next thing I post will be the next chapter of Futurus Redemptor.

A/N: My apologies for the delay in getting this typed up, but I am finally on the mend after two nasty bouts of Bronchitis. My biggest grief now is that I badly rolled me ankle a few nights ago, but it's okay. I figure, if these things happen in threes then the rolled ankle had better bloody well be number three because I fly out to the UK in two weeks' time...
