Urgent!!! Help Needed To Find A Book!!!

An urgent request to my fellow Aussies, is there anyone out there who has a copy of Alan Duff's "Once Were Warriors"? My nephew needs a copy urgently for an oral report that is due in two weeks' time, and we can't find a copy anywhere, except through international book sellers. I've also scoured websites looking for an e-book version, but there just doesn't seem to be one.

I am willing to pay for the book and for express postage, or to ensure the return of the book if just for a loan. Is there anyone out there who can help, either with a hard copy of the book or a digital copy? I will love you forever if you can help, and I promise, absolutely promise to get myself in gear and get more of "Different Shades of Darkness" posted promptly.
(Actually, I will anyway, but any help will be hugely appreciative.)

Those are all for a pdf copy of a webpage.

Unfortunately, it seems the book is not available in e-book format. I checked those sites, and they are just PDFs of web pages. Thank you so much for trying, though.

um... oddball question. Have you tried the local or school library? If they don't have it, they might be able to do a rush Interlibrary Loan for it. You might also check with any universities in the area, some have policies for "community users" (people not students) to be able to check out books.

well, at least they do here in the states. ::eep::

You might have already thought of these options, but if not, i thought i'd throw them out there.

Not an oddball question at all. I did try the library, and neither they nor any of the other connecting branches have the book - only the movie, which is no good. They could order a copy, but it wouldn't arrive in time. Unfortunately my nephew left it a little late. He only has 2 weeks left to get the book, read and write an oral report.

Haven't found any "on-line" sources yet, but i'm still looking.

From what i can tell, there is no ebook available unless you are associated with the Library of Congress' program for blind and low sighted individuals. Which i'm thinking your nephew won't qualify for. ::grin:: There does appear to be both an abridged and unabridged audio version, but those are even harder to find than the book. ::sigh::

It appears to be available from University of Queensland Press (found here) out of Brisbane but it seems a bit expensive compared to some of the other editions i've seen offered. I don't know anything about how quickly they ship or how reliable they are. But i figured it might give you one more place to start from.

I've also found it on Amazon and some of the other "marketplace" sellers (you might also check half.com and see what you find there).

Thank you very much for the effort you've made. I really do appreciate it. In the end, I scrolled through all the ebay listings, and found a seller who is based in Melbourne. I contacted them, made the purchase, and they posted it today, so hopefully I will get it in the post Monday next week.

I really am grateful for the effort that everyone has made. I shall do as I promised, and get cracking on typing up more of "Different Shades of Darkness" as quickly as possible.

Agrees with the eBay option a range of paperback options and film tie-in books to choose from under $15 mark some with free postage.

It says it is in stock and ships whithin 24 hours. I use this site all the time. It is reputable and does not charge for postage/freight. The cost of $21.23 may be a bit steep.

As a librarian I also thought of the library/interlibrary loan option but as someone else said, it's probbaly too late for that. And I couldn't find an e-book download of it on our library catalogue either. Maybe e-Bay is the best option. Good luck with it all. Your nephew is very lucky to have such a caring aunt - and make sure you tell him that :)

Thank you. :) In truth, I forgot about Fishpond. I would have paid the cost, for the reassurance of it being posted before the weekend.

As it is, I ended up going through the ebay listings, and I found a Melbourne-based seller who was offering a copy at a reasonable price. I contacted them, made the purchase, and have received confirmation that the book was posted this afternoon. Hopefully, I will have it for my nephew by Monday next week.

I had tried our regional library, but none of the branches had a copy - they only had the movie, which is no good for what the boy needs. They could have ordered it in, but it would have taken too long, and his report is due in two weeks' time. I just hope that the next time he has trouble finding a book he needs, he doesn't wait until two weeks before the assignment's due date before coming to me for help.

I didn't respond yesterday cause being in the US - I wouldn't have been able to help you. I just wanted to say that I had no idea that there was a book (saw the movie years ago). Now I'm going to have to find a copy here, LOL.
