Touching Base and an Apology...
It occurred to me how long it's been since my last update, and I thought I need to do everyone the courtesy of at least letting you all know the basics of what is going on at the moment.
I have been working on my fics, both new and old. My problem is that I write more fluidly with a good, old-fashioned notebook and pen, but then I tend to procrastinate when it comes to typing up the handwritten stuff.
Currently, I have an update almost ready to go for "Futurus Redemptor", and the first chapter of the new installment in my "What Never Should Be" series is written and just needs to be typed.
My procrastination, I'm afraid, has come back to bite me in the proverbial.
A week and a half ago, my father collapsed and had to be taken to hospital. It was determined that he needed a pacemaker, and thankfully that all went smoothly. The fact that he is an insulin dependent diabetic with a family history of heart disease gives us even more reason to be thankful to God, because any surgical procedure presents an even higher risk than normal for him.
Anyway, we figured he was on the mend and the worst was over. Right? Wrong.
The following Monday, I experienced escalating stomach pain which eventually landed me in hospital. I was there for the next three days before being allowed home, and I am looking at a rather slow recovery with a number of follow-up specialist appointments.
At the moment, I can't sit for too long at a computer, so getting my updates out is going to take even longer than I hoped. I want to reassure everyone that they are coming, though, and hopefully as soon as I can stand to sit in front of my computer for more than ten minutes at a time.
So, I am truly sorry to anyone who might have been waiting on updates from me. I will do them as soon as I am able, and hopefully that will be sooner rather than later.

As for you...get better quick. We'll all still be here, don't worry about us. Just take care of yourself first. *hugs*

It's scary, isn't it, how many complications come from having diabetes? My dad had to go with no food for nearly twenty-four hours before the procedure, and my poor mother was worried sick that his blood sugar levels would be out of control afterwards.
As for me, I am on the mend, albeit slowly....

And just to top it all off, my blood pressure sky-rocketed while I was in hospital, and all I kept getting asked was, "is there anything you're feeling anxious about?"!

It didn't help that I had to wait in the ER waiting room for five and a half hours before seeing a doctor in the first place (after being directed to the hospital by my local doctor), and then spent all night on a trolley bed in the ER department before being admitted to a ward.
Yup, nothing to be anxious about there at all. :(

Don't worry about us - we may get crabby at not receiving updates (because, of course, it's all about *us*) - but you and your family are really a lot more important than satisfying *our* needs. Despite the way we may act, we really don't *have* to have any updates to continue our existence. LOL
Y'all get well soon. *Then* will be time enough to think about us.
::hugs::
