No Greater Gift pdf & other news

Firstly, I'd like to apologise to all for just dropping off the radar like I have. Some folks have tried emailing me, and I have been terrible in not responding. I've been keeping up with reading everyone's wonderful fics, and even sending posting a very occasional comment, but mostly I've been incommunicado.

The reason is that my grandmother died early last week, the result of aggressive throat cancer. She was 96, and had a very good life, but even though it was expected it still threw the whole family into shock. She was much-loved; a real down-to-earth country woman.

It's been a week since the funeral and burial, and I have to admit that my head is still not on straight, and I've been finding it hard to do anything much at the moment that actually requires more than just token concentration. Even now, I'm struggling for the right words, but I wanted to let everyone know why there has been no update from me since finishing "No Greater Gift".

I hope to rectify that this weekend. I have started on the next installment of my "What Never Should Be" series, but it's taking a little longer to write than I expected - probably because I am doing my level best not to allow the story to descend into Gwen-bashing. Don't get me wrong, it's not going to be completely Gwen-friendly but I want to portray her realistically. In other words, as a human being with a capability to learn from her mistakes. It's definitely going to be a challenge for me.

I'm happy to say, too, that I have a few plot bunnies bouncing around in my head, although they all seem to be pretty angsty h/c plots, and I'd kind of like to try my hand at something a little light/fluffy/humorous right now. We'll see. One plot bunny in particular will not leave me alone, but since it involves Jack, the 11th Doctor, slavery, possible permanent blindness and post CoE angst, it might take me a little while to get into the right frame of mind to tackle it.

In the meantime, I am offering to those who want it, "No Greater Gift" in pdf format. You would have had it earlier, but my laptop computer doesn't have the capability to create pdf files. Also, I have not had the chance properly edit the story, so there are typos. (Probably a lot, knowing me) But it is there, in its entirety.

I'm also offering it in plain text format, if anyone has a kindle or any other kind of e-reader, and would like to load it onto their device.

I now have one day of work to survive (not much of an exaggeration, this week has been very hard to cope with), and then it's the weekend. Here's hoping next week will be a little better.

I'll be grabbing the PDF, thanks. :)

The reason is that my grandmother died early last week, the result of aggressive throat cancer.

{{{{Hugs}}}}} I'm so sorry for your loss.

I hope to rectify that this weekend. I have started on the next installment of my "What Never Should Be" series, but it's taking a little longer to write than I expected - probably because I am doing my level best not to allow the story to descend into Gwen-bashing.

Can't wait to see more WNSB. :)

I must say, I'm really glad to hear you're shying away from a total Gwen-bash -- not because I like the character in any way, shape or form, but simply because I think she gets way too much attention as it is and bashing just means she's going to be even more prevalent.

One plot bunny in particular will not leave me alone, but since it involves Jack, the 11th Doctor, slavery, possible permanent blindness and post CoE angst, it might take me a little while to get into the right frame of mind to tackle it.

Sounds very interesting. Only you could make me eager to read a story involving 11. LOL

I'm sorry about your grandmother.

I also just wanted to say thank you for posting this, even when you didn't have to.

And while I'm not her biggest fan, I'm pleased you're trying not to Gwen bash too much. I think it takes skill to be able to write someone you don't like without bashing them all the time.

Thank you for posting the PDF as well. I'll snag it when I get my computer back.

The plot bunnies sound exciting, but I hope you get a few fluffy ones as well.

Have a good weekend. I'll be the envious one working the whole weekend.

Hope you are able to function better soon, the loss of a family memeber, even if they have lived a long life, can be very emotional.

Thanks for the PDF and look fwd to more WNSB - anticipating how you fit Gwen into the story.

Take care!

I snagged teh PDF - thank you :)

YAY for more WNSB and good for you for trying to stay away from Gwen bashing, not because I like her or anything, it's just, I think your writing is above that.

I'm very sorry about your grandmother. Mine is in her mid-eighties, and even though she's fine now, I know it will happen someday. I hope you're taking care of yourself.

Thanks for the PDF. Are you going to make one of Another World too? (And just so you know, A03 makes automatic PDF's and texts for fics.)
